For more than 50 years, the Hanover Arts & Activities Center has been committed to being the “Center” of the “Center of the Universe,” as the town of Ashland is affectionately called. 

Located on the railroad tracks that run through the heart of Ashland, Virginia, the Center is dedicated to the enrichment of our community through cultural, educational, and community activities.

Sara Wright-Holloway,
Executive Director 2014-present

Sara is a native Richmonder and has lived in Ashland, Virginia for 20 years. She became involved with The Center in 2007 when her daughter began attending the Ashland Community Preschool, and then she joined The Center’s board in 2009, serving as Board President from 2011-2014. Sara is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in English and Secondary Education. She previously worked in the Special Events Department of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts working with the Foundation Department for member and donor events. Sara has served on the executive boards of two other non-profit organizations, Downtown Ashland Association and Therapeutic Adventures. Sara enjoys the many hats she wears as Executive Director, but particularly enjoys working on The Center’s many community events and partnering with Hanover County Schools arts programs and outreach teaching about The Center’s history as a Civil War hospital.
